For all the support you've given me in these years, for being there for me everywhere and anywhere no matter what. For the times you told me I was wrong and made me open my eyes. For being my friend and my guide. But most of all for being the best mother of all.

I love this kind of shoot that make me feel like I can go back in time. I definitely think the 50s/60s was the best era for what concerns fashion, the style was just beautiful, feminine, elegant and classy, I'm glad it's coming back now, but I'm also pretty sure it's that kind of style which will never fade! It's too good ;)

I adore this boom of pastel colours that is happening this season. It just makes these gray, cold, rainy Scottish spring days a lot better! I very much like the use of coloured powder done here, it almost gives a magic/surreal feel to the shoot.

I'm a Barbie girl in a.... Human world

I came across this quite disturbing discovery today. A Russian, Valeria Lukyanova, girl has turned herself into a real life Barbie Doll, undergoing hundreds and hundreds of surgeries (including removal of rib bones to decrease the waist line). Now, I ask myself, what is this world coming to? Is this the ideal of beauty future generations should be growing to? Being fake and plastic, and I mean, actual plastic? I played with Barbies when I was a little girl but never in my mind did I ever think "I will "re-build" my whole body to look like you Barbie doll!!" I might have wished to have her long legs and tiny waist but all girls wish to look different and Barbie, certainly is not an ideal that should be taken into real life... This woman is now making little girls believe that yes they can get "leg extension", "Ribs removal", "fake eyes" and look like their childhood idol and make this feel like it's OK, it's really not. Girls should be taught to embrace their own beauty no matter how long their legs are or how small or big their waist line is; people are so much more than just measurements.

I'm back! :)

I have been a terrible blogger. I apologize. I have not updated this blog in forever, and I feel terrible about it. I just find Tumblr (elyann) more convenient as it's easier to blog from and I can do it quickly. The reason I've not been posting much here is also because I've had lots of deadlines for uni, a heartbreak to, and two shows in one weekend one I was dancing and the other I was both acting and part of the organizing team, so it was hectic! But the shows were really successful, so I'm very happy!
I've also started a new blog on Tumblr exclusively to post looks I find and like, I've called it The Virtual Closet, because, well it literally contains all the clothes I wish I had :D ;) Go and check it out if you like :)

There is something beautiful about models with imperfect teeth. She looks very pretty and the styling is gorgeous. It also reminds me very much of Twiggy, I think it's the eyes and the 60s styling..

Tender Blossoms indeed. This make up evokes the beauty of flowers and spring, it's beautiful! That peachy look eye shadow is amazing! I never know what colour suits my eyes best, being simply brown... usually I go for shades of chocolate/cream. What's the favourite eye shadow colour for you ladies?  :)

4 star Hotel Sextantio Le Grotte Della Civita Built in Prehistoric Caves

Located in the South of Italy near Matera this is now another place added to my "to-visit" list. It looks incredible! Such a wonderful experience staying in prehistoric caves but with modern facilities. A unique a concept which mixes the old and the new in a beautiful way. The rooms can be booked all year round and prices range from €100 to €700 per night depending on season.

My personal style is not very rock 'n roll, although I'd love to go on a road trip on Route 66 with a Harley Davidson... That would be SO awesome! Nonetheless I think this editorial featuring gorgeous Adriana is great. It actually makes me want to go for the rock'n'roll/biker look, so if it makes me want to go for it, it must work really well ;)

KONY 2012 - Joseph Kony - Awareness turns into action

This is worth 30mins of your time. Until now I had no idea who Joseph Kony was and he’s been committing crimes for over 20 years!! Please watch this video it really makes you open your eyes and I totally believe in the power of the internet to bring everyone together and spread ideas which could change the world. How come we see everyday in the news celebrities and their lifes in first page, but a man who is number 1 on the ICC has never been shown to the world? It's time to change, it's time open our eyes and do what little we can to make this world a better place.

Quando ti parlo d'amore... (When I talk to you about love...)

I just adore this passage. I found it on tumblr, and I want to share it on here with you. It's in Italian, below I tried to translate it as best as I could to English, hope you enjoy it :)  

"Se ti dico che ti amo – se arrivo fino a dirti che ti amo – ti sto dicendo che voglio che tu sia libero, in primo luogo di essere te stesso. If I tell you I love you - if I actually get to the point of telling you I love you - I'm saying first of all that I want you to be free of being yourself.

Anche se magari come sei davvero non mi piace per niente, perché la gente spesso non è bella, nemmeno le persone che amiamo lo sono. Even if maybe, I don't like at all the way you really are, because often people are not nice, not even those we love.

Ma io sono pronta a correre il rischio, perché sono pronta ad amarti anche se non sei perfetto come mi sembri. Poi ti sto invitando a entrare nella mia vita, a vedere se ti piace. E non mi pare poco. I could just picture the movie, Pane, Amore e Fantasia, (Bread, love and dreams in English) which if you haven't watched you should ;) I adore Sophia Loren, so the fact that these photographs remind me of her just make it perfect!
